Another short and sweet trip of the Yayavars, after the Siddhivinayak walk in November, Shirota Lake camping in December and Mandwa ferry in January! This was more like desserts or aftermint to my North East tour.

Nineteen of us went to Nashik over the weekend, courtesy Sanjay Vyas, who had promised to take us to see the packaging of grapes for export to Europe, as well as a grape farm where harvesting happens.

We had hired a bus and left Mumbai on Saturday morning for seeking blessings of Bappa at Titwala, and then headed to our resort at Nashik. We then visited the grape packaging unit, of course eating the juicy grapes while understanding the operations. We had great fun in the evening at the resort, playing musical chairs and freestyle dancing!

Next day early morning, we went to the grape farm, and we’re mesmerised by the grapes all around us . Everyone has a great time clicking photographs, and enjoying the extra warm hospitality by Mr Popat, the owner of the farm and our host. We had a lip smacking breakfast of poha with tari (what we typically have with misal), and left with boxes of grapes — after having a hard time convincing Popatbhai to take money from us.

We came back to our resort from the farm and some of us had a dip in the pool before checking out. We then went to Le Fromage where the Pai couple makes handmade cheese, had a cheese tasting session, and then headed to York Winery to have our lunch, followed by a tour of the winery and a wine tasting session. And finally headed back home, and we’re gifted some more grapes by Sanjaybhai!

Overall, a short sweet juicy trip, literally and figuratively
