Oxfam Trailwalk - Dec 2014
7 December 2014
Finally, conquered the Oxfam Trailwalk, Maharashtra after failing to complete it last year due to fever midway through the trail. This time, I had three colleagues from office — Charlotte Lobo, Rajiv Sharma and Shalabh Agrawal who were making their debut for this event. I had the fortune of completing two trail walks around Bangalore in 2012 and 2013, so had an idea of what it entails. However, this route makes the Bangalore route feel like a walk in the park — there was more than 70 km of trek in the hills of the total 100 km, and kudos to Charlotte and Rajiv who completed it. Shalabh also was determined to complete the same but had to retire midway due to dehydration and severe pain in the body. We finally made it in 34:28:57, and the other team from our office, led by Ramesh Venkat finished the same in 26:53:50 — hearty congratulations to Ramesh, Amrita Sabnavis, Siddhartha Mundra and Rahul Manek (this was his debut as well, and based on past experience, he attracts blisters on his feet within no time, so a really brave attempt and heroic achievement)! Also, thanks to Dinesh Gupta and Premchand Dubey (our drivers cum support crew, without whom this would have been impossible) and Decathlon Sportsindia for having a range of value-for-money products available to suit this occasion!!
